Bone Marrow Transplant for Søren

In the fall of 2017, Søren was diagnosed with Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD). CGD is a rare primary immunodeficiency, which means that Søren’s immune system wasn't able to function properly, making him susceptible to catching life-threatening bacterial and fungal infections. Søren was admitted to the hospital in September 2017 with a severe bacterial infection. After enduring a 3 week hospital stay fighting the infection, undergoing surgeries, tests, and evaluations, Søren was released home with the hope of finding a strong bone marrow donation match.  In March 2018, Søren had his first bone marrow transplant, but failed to engraft.  After several months of treating multiple severe infection with granulocyte donations, Søren received his second bone marrow transplant on May 30, 2018 and engrafted in June! Søren has shown his resiliency many times over, but still has a long road ahead.
 
This fundraiser will be a place for the Williams to receive on-going financial support as they face the complexity of their son's treatment, and as they navigate the health care and insurance systems.  Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
