Emily, Chase was my Ranger buddy all through Ranger school. I don't think you and I ever met, but Chase would tell me about you every single day. I used to watch him read the letters you wrote him everyday and they used to make him so happy. I have so many great memories of him in the very short period of time that I knew him and as for so many other people he will always be such an inspiration. One memory that I won't ever forget about him was on graduation day, when he and I were sitting in those bleachers waiting for our families to arrive and he saw you for the first time, and he became speechless and so excited to show me who you were. He loved you so much and it makes me so happy to know that he was able marry you and spend those last few months together in Germany, because he constantly told me how much he looked forward to being there with you. Emily, I was so very saddened over the summer when I heard of your husbands death. My son Sean is a cadet at VMI and a friend of Chase. My husband, SFC Otie J. McVey died on Nov. 7 2004 during OIF. You are to be admired for continuing to look after his troops. He was a hero to devote and ultimately lay down his life for our country. You are in my prayers.
